Samurai

Today I found an old CD of mine that contained some old scans. Most of them were Warriors with all kinds of weapons (mainly swords). Samurai always had something mysterious and powerful about them, maybe that's why I like them :) Anyway, I decided to draw one today. I'm quite happy with it, even though it has some mistakes. I think the right arm and the helmet look a bit strange... i like it anyway :P

Spongebob & Snake-guy

I like certain Mangas (like Blade of the Immortal, Naruto, Initial D, Eyeshield 21 and Zetman) but I can't stand most of the modern cartoons. Anyway, i asked a friend of mine to give me a list with 15 things (objects, actions) to draw. Guess what was the first thing on the list -_-...

As she's a nice person I decided to draw it anyway. Below the yellow menace you see an older drawing of mine. I made it about 1 or 2 years ago. I think the effect is pretty cool, but the body looks a bit strange, especially the legs.

I'm gonna get some book on drawing (maybe anatomy) today. I'll try to post some drawings in which I follow the advice wirtten in it. And of course: the rest from the list!

Ben Burnley

Breaking Benjamin is my favorite band. There's just no band on earth that could compete with it. They've made so many great songs, like: So Cold, Unknown Soldier, Rain and my all time favorite: Diary of Jane.

So I decided that my first reference drawing should be about the lead singer (Ben Burnley). The reference pic was from their Diary of Jane-music video. I've had some trouble with the shading as the whole video is pretty sinister and the scanner wouldn't get the lighter shades (also the lips look kinda strange to me), but I guess you guys will recognize the mimics anyway ^^. The haircut was covered by the frame, so I might have messed it up ^^. Comments are appreciated :)

May I introduce...

Well, basically I was trying to draw some kind of manga. And I sent one of the panels to a friend of mine and asked him to give me his opinion on how the picture is (btw. it wasn't the that you see above). What I didn't know was that he went to some kind of art college and he totally tore my picture apart with his comments (well... they weren't exactly mean or anything). When he showed me some of his drawings he had done a few years ago I realized that I just don't compare. And that's why I'm going to try to become a better drawer :)

He advised me to draw by reference, which I will do for the next couple of months. You will view the results here and I would be glad if you could leave some comments on how you like them :)
